Predoctoral Research
Predoctoral research opportunities are offered to students with strong record of accomplishments at their BS (and/or MS, if applicable) degree or equivalent. Typically, students who work in the Papoutsakis lab have a prior degree in Chemical Engineering (possibly with a minor in biological or biochemical engineering or bioengineering), Bioengineering, the biological Sciences or Biochemistry. Students must apply for the PhD program through the Chemical Engineering Department or the Biological Sciences Department . Students can also make special arrangements to enter UD through another academic unit. Applicants who are US citizens or permanent residents and have exceptional qualifications should consider applying for an external fellowship. Such students can also apply for support through the Chemistry-Biology Interface Predoctoral training program.
