RESEARCH
Develop new computational and experimental methods to study non-coding RNAs in prokaryotes. Prokaryotic non-coding RNA (ncRNA) plays important roles in bacteria’s response to environment. Recent studies have shown their number far beyond previously expected. However, new convenient and efficient computational methods are urgently needed by the community to identify large number of novel ncRNAs. Particularly, the ncRNAs in clostridia is being studied in my research to identify the ncRNAs that are involved in clostridial solvent generation and human pathogenesis. My other research involves analyzing of microarray and next-generation sequencing data to study the genetic networks in clostridia and eukaryotic cells.
