  1. Detailed functioning/principle of the instrument.
    Our groups use the iQ5 real-time PCR detection system for all our quantitative real time PCR (Q-RT-PCR) reactions to perform qualitative assays for target genes. The key feature of Q-RT-PCR is that the amplified DNA is quantified as it accumulates in the reaction in real time after each amplification cycle. Combined with reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) reaction, Q-RT-PCR reaction is able to quantify low abundance messenger RNA (mRNA).

    We use an upgraded Bio-Rad iCycler thermal cycler to perform all our quantitative real time PCR reactions.



    We upgraded the iQ5 optical module to Bio-Rad iCycler thermal cycler to detect fluorescence intensity for all our quantitative real time PCR reactions.

    We use iQ5 Optical System Software Version 2.0 to setup the plate, protocol and perform data anaysis.
